Bob Marley and the Wailers: The Definitive Discography
For the first time ever, all the recordings made by Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, and Peter Tosh have been compiled into a definitive discography which details each track ? identifying all the singers and musicians, engineers, producers, studios, master tape information, matrix numbers of all the seven-inch records, plus the actual recording dates of each song. There is a great deal of background information included as well, based on more than 64 hours of interviews that the authors conducted with Bunny Wailer, during which time they played every song the Wailers ever made and got the full story of each. The book is an absolute must-have for every serious collector of Bob Marley and the Wailers, containing a treasure trove of new anecdotal information that even the most casual Wailers fan will find of great value. The book also contains stunning photographs by Kate Simon, hundreds of album cover images, and extensive additional essays.

This is an authentic Bob Marley One Love Onesie
In the late ’60s, the notion that reggae would become more than just a novelty act would have been laughed at. To break into the mainstream, the movement needed a powerful voice of prophetic proportions. This voice emerged from the collective work of three pioneering friends from Jamaica, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, and Robert Nesta Marley, who sought to bring about an ideological revolution through deeply meditative, hypnotic, and spiritual music. Catch a Fire was the Wailers’ and reggae’s introduction to the world and turned Bob Marley into a mega-icon of enormous proportions. It was the first album to remain true to the traditions of reggae music while having enough elements that were accessible to popular culture.
It doesn’t get more sublime than this. If anyone is still wondering what all the fuss was about, check this moment in reggae time controlled by the music’s avatar, the late Robert Nesta Marley. Marley didn’t write and sing songs; he channeled them. And he’s clearly a man possessed here, witnessed by an ecstatic audience that’s clearly been transported to another, better reality! Of the many performance videos and bio footage devoted to reggae’s king, Live at the Rainbow is far and away the finest. Recorded with perfect discretion by the filmmakers during the summer of 1977, just as the Exodus album was peaking on charts and four years before his untimely death, Marley’s charisma comes off the screen in potent waves. By then, of course, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer had gone their separate ways, and, unfortunately, a video of comparable quality was never made to capture that legendary joining. But the new Wailers band packed its own star power, including that generated by the late Carlton Barrett on drums and his equally legendary brother “Familyman” on bass, Junior Marvin on lead guitar, and the exquisite harmonies of Bob’s backup trio. Dressed in modest, colorful Rastawomen gear, their hair covered, Marley’s wife, Rita; Judy Mowatt; and Marcia Griffiths (the latter two were solo stars before they joined up with “Brother Joseph”) created background harmonies that remain the competitive standard today. –Elena Oumano
